Pyne must withdraw threat to ASC

06 May 2016

Christopher Pyne must withdraw his threat to ASC and its workforce for telling the truth about looming job losses.
Yesterday ASC told a Senate committee that a further 640 jobs will be lost at ASC before the end of next year.
This morning Mr Pyne said ASCs evidence was a big mistake.
He went on to say that there will jobs associated with other ship builds from 2018, the jobs lost this year dont matter.
Mr Pynes words will be cold comfort to 640 workers and their families.
This is the latest in a long line of threats and insults hurled at ASC and its workforce by the Abbott-Turnbull Government.
The Abbott-Turnbull Governments first Defence Minister David Johnston said ASC couldnt build a canoe.
Then Finance Minister Mathias Cormann questioned the capability and skills of ASC workers the day before the Hobart class Air Warfare Destroyers was launched in Adelaide.
Now Christopher Pyne says its a big mistake for ASC to tell the truth about the consequences of his Governments delayed decisions and broken promises.
Liberal attacks on ASC and its workforce must stop.
